Pet health insurance comparison?
What's better - VPI or ASPCA in terms of coverage, ease of processing coverage, etc. ? Has anyone had good / bad experiences with either they can share? What are the key types of care I should make sure are covered based on your own experience? - I have VPI through my work, and have multiple dogs, so I get the work discount and multiple pet discount. They do not cover a lot for wellness, but they do cover for illnesses if not preexisting. Claims send within 90 days
- I have never heard of ASPCA pet insurance, but I do have good experience with VPI. I like the person above me have the cancer rider. your vet also has to fax over all the records, etc, but that is normal with all insurance companies. I suggest you get information from both, and compare the two. I can only give you one point of view. I do know a lot of people that have VPI. Look at both plans carefully, and see which one would be better, not in terms of price, but in terms of how much coverage there is, if ASPCA offers the cancer rider, etc. Let me know if ASPCA suites you better, and what you like about it. The only thing is that VPI gives me a discount for having multiple dogs, and I do get it through pay deduction through payroll, since they do offer it at my work. But I would be interested in what they have to offer
- That stuff is crap. Seriously you PAY for your pets insurance, when they have to go to the vet they SAY they pay for 80% of the bill. But seriously, you have to pay for 2 bills. The insurance, and the vet
- I have experience with VPI, and my dog died from lymphoma at only 19 months. They did reimburse me. But now I have the cancer rider for both my dogs. The only thing is that you have to be consistent, every time you bring your dog in for something, you have to submit the claim with in 90 days. Or you will not be reimbursed. Also, it is well worth it for us, we do pay the vet, and the insurance, but we get reimburse, especially if something goes wrong with the dog. Just make sure you save all of your receipts. The one down side is that when it was time to pay up, they like to play the cat and mouse game with me. they do not have this or that, etc. so save reciepts, but they finally paid up. I had such a hard time when my dog died, the last thing i wanted to do is deal with an insurance company. But now, I learned, to save everything, and send my claims certified. I also did not like there were some people there that were not sensitive to my pain and loss, but you have to remember they are an insurance company. I do have a multiple pet discount and a discount through my work. If you do go with VPI go with a cancer rider also. it's well worth it
